Meet Billy
Born in Lafayette, Louisiana, and raised in Alabama, Billy Droze developed a passion for traditional country, bluegrass, gospel, and roots music at an early age. The tenth of twelve children, Billy grew up performing alongside his father, Bob “Red” Droze, a lifelong musician whose influence helped shape Billy’s deep appreciation for authentic American music. By age four, he was already performing on stage, and by his teenage years he was playing anywhere he could, honing the skills that would eventually define his career as an artist, songwriter, producer, and entertainer.
After spending time performing in Texas, Billy relocated to Nashville, where he immersed himself in songwriting, recording, and live performance. Shortly after arriving, he signed an artist development deal with RCA/Sony BMG. While that opportunity ultimately led him toward a different path, it opened the door to a successful songwriting career that has now spanned more than two decades.
Today, Billy is recognized as one of the most versatile voices in contemporary roots music. With 15 number-one singles, more than two decades of national touring, and years spent performing alongside Grammy-winning country group Shenandoah, he has built a reputation for authenticity, songwriting excellence, and a powerful live show. He has also shared stages with artists including Tim McGraw, John Anderson, Alabama, Ronnie Milsap, Rhonda Vincent, The Isaacs, and Mark Lowry.
Beyond his work as an artist, Billy has spent years writing and recording in Nashville, producing records, developing artists, and helping build successful music ventures. As founder and president of RBR Entertainment, he has overseen the growth of a roster of respected bluegrass artists while producing numerous charting releases. His work as a producer and label executive includes involvement with early projects from some of today's fastest-rising artists in roots music, including Zach Top's first album.
As a songwriter, Billy has earned cuts by Darryl Worley, Shenandoah, Marty Raybon, Junior Sisk, Flatt Lonesome, The Grascals, Jamie O'Neal, Randy Kohrs, Billy Yates, and many others. His songs have produced multiple charting recordings and number-one hits across both country and bluegrass music, further establishing his reputation as one of Nashville's most respected songwriters and creative voices.
As a recording artist, Billy has built a loyal audience through a catalog of critically acclaimed releases and charting singles, including fan favorites such as “Kentucky Blue,” “Haunted By The Wind,” “Better With Time,” “Raging Rivers,” “Chicken Truck,” and “That Sweet Gal of Mine.” His music has earned recognition among country, bluegrass, Americana, gospel, and roots music audiences alike.
Billy continues to prove his draw as a live performer, consistently selling out listening rooms, theaters, and club venues. Recent highlights include sold-out appearances at the legendary Station Inn in Nashville and Fox & Locke in Franklin, Tennessee. His ability to connect with audiences through compelling storytelling, exceptional musicianship, and genuine authenticity has made him a favorite among fans of traditional country and bluegrass music.
Now entering an exciting new chapter, Billy is returning to his traditional country roots while continuing to release bluegrass music. His latest country single introduces a forthcoming full-length country album, with additional releases scheduled throughout the year. Supported by a major marketing campaign through RBR Entertainment and distributed through CDX and Sony Orchard, Billy is actively touring with his country band and bringing his newest music to audiences nationwide.
Whether on stage, in the studio, or behind the scenes developing artists, Billy Droze remains committed to preserving the traditions that shaped him while creating music that resonates with modern audiences. With a career spanning songwriting, recording, producing, touring, and label development, he has established himself as one of the most respected and enduring artists in today's roots music landscape.
